It is a sad day when our newly elected Conservative MP declines to intervene over the decision by Suffolk County Council to remove the post of teacher to sick children on Rainbow ward at the West Suffolk Hospital. James Cartlidge MP has repeatedly stated he is a “One Nation Tory” yet local people can decide for themselves if they think the actions of Suffolk County Council and our MP reflect such a claim.
Only this Friday, Lead clinicians criticised this decision (see previous post and EADT article). Now that they have, the evidence is irrefutable that the doctors were not consulted with on this decision.
Yet I am told that Mr Cartlidge responded to a constituent’s concern by stating that Suffolk had reached this decision in “an appropriate manner” and that the “decision is reasonable.”
Mr Cartlidge responded before the clinician criticism became evident. Maybe he will reflect that the brief he was given by a senior Conservative Councillor did not paint the full picture.
I do hope our MP who is NOW aware that West Suffolk Hospital clinicians have genuine concerns that he will act over this removal of the teacher to sick children post. Our MP could use some diplomacy and suggest a rethink.Leave a comment
