Dog fouling and new powers at Sudbury Town Council.

by nigelbennett on 4 July, 2013

We have had 2 community wardens for sometime. They are employed by Sudbury Town Council and do excellent work in the areas of litter, graffitti, dog fouling, fly posting and fly tipping. They liaise and work with Babergh officers and the local Police and were recently given extra powers under the Community Safety Accreditation Scheme by the Chief Constable to help in the fight against low level crime.

Dog fouling is an issue that causes problems especially for parents with young children and Suffolk Rd/Queens Rd area has been a problem alongside others.

Our Community Wardens can now give out fixed penalty notices of £50 but those who fail to pay or are persistent offenders can be taken to court and face a fine upto £1000.

Of course our Wardens will continue to educate and give out bags to dog owners.
