Last night, we had the Principal of Ormiston Sudbury Academy and Autism Anglia speaking to the Town Council about their views and intentions towards the Uplands Middle School site.
The Principal of OSA made it clear that they were approaching Suffolk CC for the gifting of the playing field and astro. They also estimated that a £100,000 per year would be needed to keep the old school site running. They said they had no need for the space in the building but would be happy to work with other potential users.
Autism Anglia said that they were visiting the buildings very soon but did not believe they could find use for the whole building. They were interested in use of part of the site for support workers, drop ins and post 18 use. They need a base in Suffolk but have a school in Eight Ash Green, Essex.
The Town Council Task Group “Sudbury and its Future” agreed to consider other groups who might wish to hire space in the school buildings.
The Town Clerk is meeting Suffolk CC officers about potential use for the training needs of young people and potential Lottery funding.
Tory run Suffolk CC seem to be now rushing for ideas for use rather than boarding up the property in September. If only they had thought more about this, just a bit earlier!Leave a comment
