Loss of disabled parking on Market days on Market Hill.
April 30th, 2009 by nigelbennettComplaints are growing from disabled drivers about Suffolk County Council and the Police enforcing a no parking restriction. The sign on the Market Hill states it is closed by the Town Council but it is at the request of the other authorities.
Drivers are concerned that they need to park close to shops and market stalls. I will be raising these concerns with the Town and County Council.
Sudbury Bus Station Regeneration.
April 8th, 2009 by nigelbennett![]()
Babergh is working on a development brief for this area. The area is earmarked for a mixed use development including retail, housing, leisure. Officers are looking at options, talking to landowners including the County Council who want to put in a new bus station but this could affect the viability of any other development. This should be a comprehensive package for the whole area not just sites being cherry picked. There will be a full consultation with the Town Counil first and other groups such as the Sudbury Society, Chamber of Commerce, Market Town Partnership in the summer. The drawing above is an initial idea submitted for discussion by the Sudbury Society and needs to be treated as such.
Please let me know your views on this whole area.
Siam Surgery parking success
April 8th, 2009 by nigelbennettYesterday at Strategy committee, Martyn and I were successful in getting some extra places for the doctors and nurses to park following a 1000 person signed petition. We had requested officers find a solution. Often staff have to go on medical visits/emergencies and then cannot park on return or have got tickets since the machines went in or had to leave in the middle of appointments to move vehicles.
Belle Vue house update.
April 5th, 2009 by nigelbennett![]()
Another request came in from Apollo for Belle Vue House and the old pool site. This time it was to retain the house not demolish it. Babergh will be responding that there will be no further consideration on Belle Vue till the PCT have made their choice of site for the new health facility. This should mean Belle Vue is safe as developers bidding to the PCT need a site in their possession.
